The copper mule mug originated in Russia but was allegedly introduced to America by Russian immigrant Sophie Berezinski in the 1940s. Apparently she'd bought 2000 surplus stock units with her from her father's Russian copper factory but had a hard time selling them. Fate intervened when Sophie happened upon two unlikely business partners one day in a bar, both of whom where desperately trying to sell their own surplus stock - one with Vodka and one with Ginger Beer. The trio joined forces and the Moscow Mule, served in a cool copper mug, swiftly caught on and by the 1950s was one of the most popular drinks on the cocktail circuit. Now, with a nod to tradition, you too can keep your cocktails chilled and looking impressive when the temperature’s rising.
